AADAC has a full range of programs and services for you and your family. Maybe you’re just looking for info about alcohol, other drugs or gambling. Maybe you’re worried about a friend, or someone in your family. Or maybe you think you might have a problem, and you want to talk to someone about it without being judged. Whatever you need, we can help.
All these services are free and confidential:
Information services: Every AADAC area office and youth centre has booklets and brochures, info sheets, videos and DVDs, and more. You and your family can also find out more about AADAC and our services by checking out our website, or by talking to a counsellor.
Outpatient services: You can get counselling and support for yourself and your family through any AADAC area office or youth centre.
Mobile services: If you’re in a situation where you can’t come to your local AADAC office, an AADAC counsellor can often come to you.
Intensive Day Treatment Programs: If you would like extra counselling and support, think about AADAC’s day programs in Edmonton and Calgary. These programs run for 12 weeks, and offer you a place to stay if you can't reach them from where you live now.
Residential Detoxification: If you need a safe and supportive place to get off alcohol or other drugs, an AADAC counsellor can help you get into a detox program in Edmonton or Calgary. These programs help you withdraw from drugs, help your family get involved, and help you plan for more treatment if you want it.
Residential Treatment Programs: If you’re having serious problems with alcohol, other drugs or gambling, AADAC’s live-in treatment programs can help you take your life back.
- Wilderness Program (Calgary): This three-month wilderness program runs year-round. The challenging environment gives you a chance to get active, rely on others, and learn more about yourself. If you need to “get away from it all” while you recover, this is the program for you.
- Urban-Based Group Treatment (Edmonton): If you need the kind of support and services you can only get in the city, this three-month program might be more your style. Health care and mental health services are nearby to give you complete support in your recovery.
- Group Treatment Program (Lethbridge): This three-month group program combines the services and resources available in Lethbridge with opportunities for wilderness-based treatment experiences.
An AADAC counsellor will help you and your family find the best program for you. They’ll also help put together a treatment plan that works for you and your family.
Protection of Children Abusing Drugs (PChAD) Program: If your parents or guardians are worried that you are not seeking the help they believe that you need because your alcohol or other drug problem caused you or others harm, they can apply for a court order to have you admitted into this program. If the court order goes through, you will be taken to a protective safe house (a home-like place that is dedicated to this program) for up to five days, even if you don’t want to go. There you will start detoxification, and counsellors will talk with you about your drug or alcohol problem. They will also talk with your family and give you some treatment options to think about once you leave the program. More >> Frequently Asked Questions About PChAD
